I have never had a migraine headache before, and I'm still not sure if I have. But if I didn't have a migraine yesterday, I'm sure it was very, very close. My goodness - if you get migraines on a regular basis, I am SO sorry.
Yesterday we met Clark's parents and sister at a golf course, and since I had never once been witness to a full game of golf, I thought it was a good opportunity. I even got to drive the cart for a little bit. My sister-in-law Jenna is a senior in high school, and she's a pretty good golfer. She made it to the state tournament and played a practice round with my father-in-law, Clark, and her golf coach. At about 1:00, I started getting a weeny little headache. By 1:15, my head was pounding. I thought I just needed some food, but eating didn't help. As time went on it got much, much worse. I could barely open my eyes anymore because the sunshine was so irritating. I couldn't turn my head because it would throb as I moved. Every bump in the cart path was making my head ache.
By the time the game was over at 5:30, I didn't even want to talk and I started getting really nauseous. First my eyes welled up with tears just as a result of the pressure, but then ended up being real tears of pain and frustration. I took headache powder and Tylenol and they didn't help at all.
We went out to a restaurant to eat dinner but I couldn't even make it to the table when we walked in. I went to the bathroom and stayed in there for about 10 minutes thinking I was going to barf. Guys, this pain was excruciating - I have never felt anything like it before in my entire life. As I ate some bread and drank some soda at the table, I began to feel better and was even able to eat some dinner. My head was pretty much back to normal once we got back home, but I was still nauseous and spent the entire night getting sick in the bathroom. Awesome.
The point of this story is not to solicit pity from you, but rather to express that I can now empathize with those of you who have bad headaches or migraines. I am so sorry that you feel that way, it's awful!
