S'more Date Night

Last weekend, Clark himself came up with the idea to build me a fire and have an at-home date night making s'mores. We had planned for last night to be the night, and even though it happened a little later than planned, it still happened!

We've had s'mores at home before, but we used to use an unraveled clothes hanger for a skewer. Well, we weren't cheap this time and we actually went to Wally World and bought some metal skewers.

[Funny story: A few years ago, I was at my friend Terah's house with a bunch of my friends and we had a bonfire. There were plenty of s'more-making activities and metal skewers. I wanted just a toasted marshmallow, so off to the fire I roasted. When the 'mallow was done, I popped it right into my mouth. No, not by taking it off of the skewer with my hands and then placing it ever-so-gently into my mouth. I just put my mouth right on the end of the skewer that had just been sitting in an open flame for five minutes. I burned my lips so badly....but I was too embarrassed about my ditzy move to react aloud. I didn't want anyone to know what I had done. I still remember how badly that hurt....]

Clark didn't have a lot of time to get a nice fire going, so we worked with a little one. It was good quality time together, and I'm so happy Clark thought to do that for me!

Clark roasting in the fireplace...I know it's blurry, but using the flash made it ugly.

Clark's cool detail shot...yum, makes me want some more!

When you do it, I'd suggest roasting them over a "clean" in, don't roast over the fumes of a starter log. I can't imagine it's very healthy. I could probably put money on the fact that it causes cancer. But yeah, otherwise, a great idea for you and Bean (and later C)! :)
