Goodbye, Goldilocks

I got my hair cut and colored this morning! Or as Clark would say, "She done got 'er hair did this mornin'!" I really, really, really needed it. I only usually get a haircut once a year at the most, but it's more like two years. However, I made the horrible mistake of bleaching it in the spring of '07, and I've been to more hair appointments to repair the damage I caused than I'd like to admit. I try not to go often because getting it at a salon is so doggone expensive. "Why not go somewhere cheaper or do it yourself," you ask? Well, friends, because I have, and it's not worth all the frustration. Cheaper places don't cut my hair right, and my hair won't hold color from a box. I think it's just fine to afford myself the luxury of an expert at a salon if I only go in moderation. So, yesterday at work, I called just to see if there was an opening, and there was! At 9:00 this morning, I met Amber - a very pretty, friendly stylist who made me very comfortable. I went to see Amber specifically because she had cut and colored my friend Angie's hair so well a few weeks ago (the same Angie as from the Shadow post). Without going into much history, the situation was that my very long hair was two noticeably different colors. There was a horizontal line right below my ear line that defined the separation of very blonde and light brown. See for yourself (it's wet, but you can see the color difference). I wanted a color close to my natural color because I was so sick of being blonde. It's been a long road with many stops along the way to different stylists, and no one could get it right. But Amber did it this morning! She said my longest hair - the hair underneath everything - was actually very healthy and only needed a trim. She could take care of the rest of the dry junk on top by cutting in lots of layers. Point is that I got to keep my hair just as long as before, and that makes me happy. Here's the new 'do (with the color nice and even): I've got to go back in another 6 weeks to get another dose of the dark stuff, but after that, she said I won't need to come back for 4-6 months. I can swing that. I like it. I'm not blonde, and my hair is long. Yippie !

I love the long hair and the color is nice. Amber did a good job! I will miss your blonde hair, but I know how much trouble it can be keeping it up. Lovw, Mom

It looks GREAT!

Shaun would love for me to grow my hair that long... but I really think it would actually eat my head before it got to that point. And I kind of like my head. :)

Thanks so much! Having long hair is frustrating sometimes but still has its perks :)
