I have probably lost all of my regular readers sometime between Thanksgiving and now. I think about blogging all the time, but do I do it? No. So, I'm sure by now that no one even bothers to check my blog anymore, but I'm going to write anyway (in an attempt to pull of the I-don't-care-if-people-like-me-I-just-blog-because-I-want-to vibe...oh that didn't work? Oh).
We'll just pick a topic at random to start......
and it's the gym! Ta-da!
Clark and I joined a gym about 4 weeks ago. We wanted to join a couple months ago, but we delayed it figuring that they'd be offering special deals as it got closer to the new year. And we were right! We got a great deal on the membership but I knew I just wouldn't be working out during the holidays. I told Clark that I would make good use of the gym but not until after Christmas. I'm proud to say I've been good to my word. :)
My parents left us last Monday morning, and on Tuesday after work we were busting our behinds. Let me preface, as I usually do: I used to be very athletic, but not so much anymore. I mean I played lacrosse, basketball, soccer, ran track, played pickup frisbee and football.....now I can't even walk up the stairs without getting winded. But all that's changing and I'm so excited! So back to last week...I didn't work out hard on Tuesday because I didn't want to hurt myself. I knew if I pulled something or couldn't move the next morning, I likely wouldn't go back to the gym. Wednesday was an off day and I felt fine, but Thursday was the kick in my booty. I felt like I'd been hit by a truck. We watched the Clemson bowl game (dang it) and didn't realize that the gym would be closing early on New Year's Day. So...we missed the gym..oops. So we went back to the gym on Friday after work (after my soreness had conveniently gone away) and again on Sunday (yesterday).
Clark and I used to work out together up north but we really haven't done anything active since we moved more than 2 years ago. Ugh. But anywho, we've been working out together and it's been pretty enjoyable. We get to people-watch in between sets and we get to encourage each other. It's great for me (even though he'd probably love to listen to some music). The point is that when we work out together, it takes longer than if we were alone. On Friday we decided to not alternate sets on a single machine, but rather to alternate machines entirely. That shaved off a bunch of time, but it still took over an hour to do everything. After working out yesterday, we decided to work out daily instead of every other day, but we would alternate upper and lower body and we'd take the weekends off to recoup. Tonight was upper (not my favorite) and tomorrow's lower (not so difficult for me).
So there you go. I know, right? This is exactly what you were hoping to read! Now you know Jess' whole workout history and schedule! Your life is now complete!
