Welcome to the second installment of my New Orleans photo blog! This captures Saturday - Valentine's Day. After working the trade show and grabbing dinner at a mexican restaurant, we hit the town with our friends Tradd and Kevin. Tradd is my boss' son who came with us to help out, and Kevin is one of my super cool co-workers.
Ummm, so we purchased beads not realizing that an hour later we'd get more than we could carry for free. We got purple and orange - Clemson colors. Go Tigers!
One of the parades downtown. This was literally around 11:30 at night. Look at all the people! CRAZY.
Me and Tradd snagging plenty of beads from the floats at the parade. Now you see why we were suckers for buying them earlier...
I promise I was in NO way tipsy, but this is the only picture I got with the mounted cops! They were all over the city, keeping everyone "under control"....the horses were HUGE!
After the parade, yup...as you can see...we hit up the casino. I had never been to one before, and to be honest, I felt sad when I walked in. I just felt an overwhelming sensation of addiction....I can't explain it, but I just didn't really want to stay. We hung out for a while, and the boys gambled a little and enjoyed themselves. But I was happy to leave.
Clarkster playing slots....he let me play a couple of rounds but I've gotta say...it wasn't nearly as exciting as I thought it'd be. As a matter of fact, nope. Not exciting at all. Needless to say, we won nothing.
The four of us back at the hotel: Tradd, Kevin, me, and Clark, showing off our hot new collections of genuine New Orleans beads.
....Buuuut the two of us still had energy when we got back to our room, so we decided to go back out, haha! This is around 2:30 in the morning....earlier the balconies had been packed with people throwing beads - mostly to topless girls - but I guess they all
passed out turned in for the night. I feel pretty safe saying that everyone in the picture was drunk.
And, being that it was Valentine's Day, we finished our downtown venture that night with a visit to Fritzel's - a German jazz pub. It was great music and a fun atmosphere. It was confusing and very interesting....it felt like walking right into a pub in Germany but with traditional New Orleans music. Very cool. And we shared a smoochie there at the bar. Ooooh!
And you can see for yourself what Fritzel's was like (but sorry for the quality).
One more day of New Orleans pictures left to share!
