Today I'm 31 weeks pregnant, meaning Lily Mae will probably be here sometime in the next 9 weeks. Sure there's a chance that I'll go longer than that, so fine - 10 weeks at the very most. I'm guessing though that she'll be born between 39 and 40 weeks. I don't know why I think that, but I do.
No, her room isn't finished. Not even close. The walls are not painted, the furniture that we do have isn't ready, and there's furniture still to get. There are wall hangings to hang, curtains to make, on and on it goes..... And no, we don't have the things we need yet. Don't get me wrong - I understand that many mothers all over the world give birth to babies and have virtually nothing, but their babies still survive and grow and thrive. I'm not suggesting that I really can't live without "stuff," however, we have been very blessed to have the means to provide nice material things for our little girl. I've spent a considerable amount of time and effort researching the things we'll need, and I pared down my list to what I considered to be the essential things. There aren't too many things that I've chosen that are superfluous or unnecessary, although I do have to admit that I registered for a pack of baby socks that look like slippers....proooobably don't really need those. Ah well, I've been assured that it's silly to worry about these things, because everything will come together in the end.
So, about Lily Mae's room...... I guess after all this time and all these empty promises, I still haven't even shared with you about what my plans for it are. Oops! So here's a new promise: right after I post this entry, I will not get up from my computer until I've written out my plans and prepared another post for tomorrow. I know, I know - the suspense is killing you.
My friend Layna is throwing me a baby shower! I'm really excited! I don't enjoy being the center of attention and I don't like being put on the spot, so Layna has kindly prepared me by telling me the things she's got planned. That put my anxieties to rest and now I'm ready to just enjoy the time with my friends, celebrating the awesome life God's making in me :) My lovely mom is going to be coming down as well so that she can be a part of the party, and I'm really excited about that! The shower is in a couple of weeks and I'll be sure to post some pictures afterwards and let you know how it goes.
Well, no 31-week belly picture. Because I've been in the habit of doing biweekly pictures, posting one on an odd week would just throw everything off (and my gosh, we just can't have that!). Just think of what I looked like in my 30-week picture, but imagine my belly being a little bigger. Yup, that's what I look like right about now :-P OoOh, except with a rockin' tan from the beach!!
Come back tomorrow to see plans for her room! I will.not.fail you readers this time!!
