Lily Mae has been waking up earlier every day for a week. She used to make it to 8:30 easily, but today she made it only to 7:00 and couldn't go back to sleep. That was ok - I was sort of expecting that, especially since she hadn't woken up during the night. Kind of a win/lose. Anyway, I went back into my bedroom to grab my glasses and chapstick, as usual, when I heard Clark pipe up and offer to go out and play with the kiddo for a little bit. I had about half an hour before he needed to get ready for work, and since you know how much I value sleep of any amount, I took him up on it.
I've noticed that if I can hear Lily Mae at all, I will not be able to doze off. I guess I always knew that, but even when she's just happy and chatting with her toys I can't tune her out. Thanks to my white noise app playing right next to my ear, I did eventually nod off.
I've been having some strange dreams lately, maybe because my day-to-day needs a little spice or because I'm going crazy with exhaustion (seriously, I feel way more tired now than when Maebert was a newborn). This morning's dream involved some combination of driving in a field to find a pumpkin stand, ordering my favorite Starbucks chai, and being nervous that the baristas were going to take my donuts. in this dream, I did all these things this morning while I was supposed to be napping, and I got home at 10:30 when Clark had needed to get in the shower at 8:30. He was pretty mad at me, but then my alarm went off and, though confused, I finally figured out it was 8:30 after all, and I was not actually in trouble.
